Definition:A mineral that is very similar to barite (BaSO4), but is actually a mixture of barite and barium sulfate and contains variable amounts of other mineral phases including pyrite, barium titanate, and beryl. It can be distinguished from barite by its hardness and usually a higher specific gravity. Hainite is found in hydrothermal veins and is associated with gold deposits in countries such as Chile, Peru, and Canada.
