isomir Definition
Definition
An isomir is a variant form of a microRNA or miRNA, which is a small non-coding RNA molecule that regulates gene expression by inhibiting translation or promoting degradation of target mRNAs. Isomirs differ from each other by one or more nucleotide substitutions, but their target specificity can be virtually identical, leading to point mutation-dependent regulation mechanisms in microRNA-mRNA interactions.
